Segment is a CDP that provides the ability to unify profile data, segment those profiles, and sync segments to marketing, sales, and customer service tools. Segment differs from some CDPs with it's ability to use your data warehouse as both a source of data, and a destination for data. Many CDPs just see warehouses as a source. This can save engineers time by providing packaged recipes for warehousing marketing data. Segment also provides some great infrastructure for managing data. This including process monitoring, tools for creating a data dictionary and documentation, and an automated QA process. 

Segment has an easy-to-use UI for building marketing segments and offers predictive segmentation using machine learning. The software's engagement tools also feature a drag-and-drop UI for journey orchestration, and integrations with more than 400 different marketing tools. These integrations allow you to sync your segments to 3rd party tools to deliver coordinated, cross-channel campaigns.

Segment was acquired by Twilio in 2020, and offers integrations with Twilio's marketing tools.
